ARK’s Annual Amble

By Ruth Brown · 2 December 2021

It’s December and ARK is excited to be undertaking another virtual walking challenge (the Annual ARK Amble). This year we have chosen to walk 1050 miles around Wales – taking in the beautiful Welsh Coast and Offa’s Dyke paths.

All of our proceeds will (appropriately given the route we are following) be going to Shelter Cymru. This is for a fantastic cause – Shelter Cymru directly support people to move from homelessness to housing and are also campaigning for more social housing, improved protections for renters and working with communities on the ground.

If you wish to sponsor the ARK team, please visit our Just Giving page – http://ow.ly/iXcb50H0xTL.

Keep an eye out for our regular updates of our progress

About Shelter Cymru

We help thousands of people each year across Wales who are affected by the housing emergency by offering free, confidential and independent housing advice and campaigning to tackle the root causes of the housing emergency.

Over the past year, we have helped 16,547 people with our advice and support services. They were people living in every local authority in Wales, and across all housing tenures.

  • 62% of households helped were facing or currently experiencing homelessness
  • 5,457 households helped had dependent children
  • 16% of people helped were aged between 16-24
  • over half of the people we helped had a mental health condition, a disability or mobility issue.
