Application for delivery funding
The £2 billion Green Homes Grant scheme to upgrade homes across England was announced at the end of last month.
Under this, £500 million funding will be delivered through local authorities, working with their local partners, to improve the energy efficiency of low-income households, including those living in social housing. This will help reduce fuel poverty and support the installation of low carbon heating and with thunder storms rolling around as we write and “tropical nights” becoming the norm the de-carbonisation of the housing stock climbs ever higher on the agenda.
The Local Authority Delivery (LAD) scheme aims to raise the energy efficiency of low energy performance homes (those rated below EPC Band E), including off-gas grid homes. The initial phase of the scheme provides £200 million funding for local authorities to upscale existing energy efficiency improvement projects. A further £300 million will be available in the second phase of the scheme later in 2020 for Local Energy and LA’s are seeking partners to help them deliver.
The deadline for this is extremely tight with applications needing to be submitted by noon on 1st September 2020.
At ARK, we will work with our clients and customers in identifying clear targets to utilise any funding subsequently received. For properties not meeting the standard, our ASAP model is able to deliver full appraisal of the asset by a series of tests not just on asset performance but taking into account the perceptions of the customers and the staff that manage those homes and as an outcome providing a solid evidence base for home pre and post funding being spent.
We would encourage all of our clients and customers to investigate this funding and would love to speak with you if you are interesting in bidding or after 2nd September in receipt of any funding towards your projects. In the first instance please speak to our Senior Consultant Jon Gould by calling on 07557 402725 or email him at jgould@arkconsultancy.co.uk.
