Mental ill health is the most common cause of long-term sickness and according to the CIPD accounts for 59% of long-term sickness. The Centre for Mental Health estimates it costs £3.1 bn to replace staff who leave their jobs due to mental ill health each year.

A recent ‘Mental Health at Work’ report found a gap between aspiration and reality for workplace mental health, It found that 58% of senior leaders and board members think their organisation supports it staff, however 42% of staff with no managerial responsibility believed that their organisation supports its staff and 20% of employees feel that their manager is not concerned about their wellbeing.

This free to attend breakfast briefing will provide delegates with an insight into the solutions available to organisations to support health and wellbeing.

Louise Harris, former director of a large north west HA will share her personal experience of suffering severe anxiety whilst working in a senior position within a housing and training environment. Our colleagues from Health and Wellbeing Inspiration will discuss how they supported Manchester’s Health and Wellbeing Board to take a transparent look at health and wellbeing in the workplace. They will also provide insight into their ‘organisational health and wellbeing baseline assessment’ which helps organisations understand where they are currently in terms of supporting health and wellbeing and identifying the most appropriate interventions.
