ARK Assistant Director Paul O’Callaghan’s 40-Mile Charity Walk for We Can Kick It

By Pete Evans · 28 January 2025

On Tuesday, 4th February, ARK Consultancy’s Assistant Director, Paul O’Callaghan, will be trading his desk for walking boots as he embarks on a gruelling 40-mile walk across London in support of the inspiring charity, We Can Kick It.

Paul will join the charity’s founder, Adrian Conoboy MBE, alongside a team of friends and young cancer survivors, for this epic challenge. The walk will take the group to seven iconic football stadiums, starting at Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park at 6am and concluding at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium late in the evening. This remarkable journey will raise vital funds to help launch We Can Kick It’s first UK football programmes for children and families affected by cancer.

We Can Kick It was founded in 2018 by Adrian Conoboy, a brain cancer survivor who experienced first hand the physical and emotional toll of the disease. During his recovery, football became a lifeline for Adrian, offering hope, joy, and a pathway to healing. He turned this experience into a mission to empower children and families affected by cancer through football. Since its inception, the charity has delivered transformative football clinics and camps in the USA and will officially expand its programmes to the UK this spring.

Speaking about the walk, Paul said:

“As someone who has watched the incredible impact Adrian and We Can Kick It have had on children in the USA, I’m thrilled to help bring this programme to the UK, arguably the home of football! By combining the beautiful game with a beautiful mission, we can help change the lives of children who’ve faced so much already.”

The funds raised from this event will support free football workshops and experiences for children living with cancer in the UK. Adrian’s vision is simple but powerful: to create a space where children can feel uplifted and empowered through the joy of football. As he puts it, “This walk combines two things we’re passionate about at We Can Kick It – football and making a difference. Every step we take will help fund football programmes for children affected by cancer.”

Paul, a Trustee of the charity in the UK, is a long-time friend of Adrian’s and has witnessed the incredible resilience and determination that drives this cause. The walk represents an exciting new chapter for We Can Kick It as it begins its journey to positively impact families across the UK.
