ARK’s Ambling So Far

By Chris Seeley · 8 December 2020

Last week the ARK team embarked on the task of walking (virtually) from Lands End to John O’Groats in support of Crisis.

At this time of year, we think supporting a super housing charity is the right thing to do. Whilst the scourge of street homelessness has been reduced through the ‘Everyone In’ initiative, it has not gone away. Sofa surfing and hidden homelessness are as ever-present and the mental and physical impacts of living on the street will remain with people who have slept rough for years to come. As a housing consultancy we wanted to help make a small difference.

As the crow flies the distance between the two points is 603 miles but walking using the route hiked by Mark Moxon the distance is 1,111 miles, so that is our target. 17 members of the ARK team including some family members have signed on and we each need to average about 65 miles to get to target, so this might take a while.

Last week we managed to clock up 168 miles, in real-life terms we would now be walking along the Exe Valley Way in Devon, having just passed Crediton. We have a way to go, but we are hoping some of the younger members of the ARK Ambling team will pick up the pace and that we make strides this week. If you could find a way to sponsor the team on our quest and support Crisis we would be delighted.
